Technology use in biodiversity learning process – fashion rage or necessity?

In order to draw a public attention to questions which are related to environmental education both in schools and whole society, Environmental Development Association and the National Botanic Garden of Latvia organized a seminar which was dedicated to different technologies and solutions in educating society on biodiversity.

On October 28, 2013 a seminar “Technologies and their use in educating society on biodiversity” was held in Riga and organized within the Estonia-Latvia cross-border cooperation programme project “SMARTGARDENS” or “Innovative botanical gardens”. The event brought together more than 100 participants and was attended by teachers, specialists from Nature Conservation Agency, representatives of non-governmental sector and institutions such as Natural History Museum of Latvia, the National Botanic Garden of Latvia, Latvia’s State Forests, as well as representatives of the press.

Upcoming workshop in Riga- technology use in biodiversity learning process

The upcoming seminar will take place in Riga, during which the participants will have the opportunity to gain new information on innovative technologies, projects and methods, which are being used in educating society on different topics connected to the biodiversity. In the seminar the participants will have the opportunity to receive information on solutions, which are available now and which are being planned for the near future.

Travel around Botanic Gardens in Estonia and Latvia

Project „SmartGardens” has published brochures inviting to take a trip to the Botanic Gardens to see, to smell, to touch and hear the green part of our world tour. 

Botanical Gardens of the University of Tartu, Tallinn, University of Latvia and National Botanic Garden invite you together enjoy the spring, watch the blooming of the flowers and apple trees and inspiring tweeting of birds. The odorous lilacs collections allure to a romantic meeting in the garden.

The International seminar Science and Education in Public Service

The seminar, which was dedicated to the science and education in public service, was held in Tartu, Estonia, AHHAA science centre, 2013 April 5.

The attention to this topic is high at the moment as internet is the environment where most of the public spending their time looking for some information or using social networks. Many questions dedicated to the topic were discussed during the day.

Project SmartGardens invites you to participate in the international seminar  „ Education and science in public service”

The seminar “Education and science in public service”, organized by Estonia – Latvia Programme part-funded Smart Gardens project, will be held in Tartu, Estonia, on 5 April, 2013 in Science Centre AHHAA. 

The seminar is aimed to discus the biodiversity science as a part of the education system. During the seminar will be discussed topics such as Science versus information pollution, Where the media is looking for the information, Role of botanic garden in forming comprehension of natural science and other relevant themes.
